NEW FAITH

Straight outta Los Angeles California, here's an interview with
Joe V of New Faith, a familiar band in the NYHC scene that has
relocated to the city of angels!
Chris D'Alessandro: How'd you wind up in Los Angeles and how long have
you been there?
Joe V: I wound up here cuz rejuvenate had just finished a European
tour and broke up when we returned home and my other band down low wasn't doing
much. I was miserable in NY didn't have a good job and the rents were getting
outta control, basically I saw NYC going to shit since Gulliani came into
office. Numerous clubs have been shutting down and now CBGB will be gone
by the time this is in print. our music scene is under attack it feels. I'm
tired of the police state we live in, in NYC the local government is abusing the
power they have and we are paying for it. I've been in la since April 06
CD: What made you decide to get New Faith together out there in LA?
Simple, you have to understand the way I think, I am not happy if I'm not doing
a band, like I said in the last answer the bands i was playing in were over with
so I new it was time to move on and I'd need a band. I was done in NYC. I had
been thinking of reforming new faith for awhile LA was the perfect situation to
do this so I had a friend here who said I could stay with them until I was on my
feet so I immediately started looking for band members and a job. I found the
members got a job and here we are with a few shows under our belt and more
coming. I chose LA cuz I'd been here years ago and didn't wanna leave I loved
it. I knew it would have changed since I last was there but I'm having a blast
here!

CD: How has your band been received out there?
JV: Right now yes on a small scale we've only played a few shows
but the response has been fuckin' great and were getting asked to do more shows.
CD: How's that hardcore scene in LA? Music scene in general?
JV: All the bands I met so far all play fast old school hardcore punk
which I love. there are a lot of other kinds of music which seem to be pretty
popular. but California seems to love there hardcore/punk the old fashion way
loud, fast, and chaotic!
CD: What kind of bands are popular out there in the clubs?
JV: It's seems there is a wide range of shit here, a lot of metal
all genres is big, punk is big here, and of course these indy type bands are
everywhere
CD: I gotta ask man, NJ is overrun with cheese ball cover bands (and
this is spreading to NYC by the way!) that sell out like to crowds of like 3000!
Is LA like that, are cover bands king?
JV: Yeah it seems to be a lot of em judging by the adds the clubs
have in the papers, but I don't know what type of crowds these bands pull or how
many. I'd hate to see our clubs nation wide being over run by them. write
your own damn music dammit! I hope we never see the day when there is a
Cro-Mags or Agnostic Front cover band that would be getting ridiculous

CD: What kind of guitars / amps are you using these days?
JV: I have a B.C. Rich Bich a re-issue of the old one they made in
the 70's and an Ibanez double cut away like Joan Jett used to play. The
head I use currently is a Randell RG 100 ES 150 watts and a Marshall 4x10 cab
wired in stereo
CD: Have you run into any ex NYHC people out in LA?
JV: I've spoke to Met from Too Damn Hype Records he's out here,
Joey Image (ex Misfits) Afsalve and Jywanza from Crisis (excuse my spelling on
there names) and Tony Costansa (ex crisis, machine head, crowbar) Tony is
playing drums in new faith now I might add. I heard Ezac is here (too many bands
to mention that he's played with but you know who I mean!), Todd Youth, Gigi
from Step Too Far & A.D.D. though I've yet to speak with her face to face.
CD: Where did you find the other members of your band?
JV: Word of mouth and the internet, I hunt musicians down like a
bounty hunter!
CD: What LA bands should I check out?
JV: Oh shit there are tons of good bands, check out... Bad
Reaction, Knife Fight, Broken Needle, Tippers Gore, Rabbies, c.o.p., the Scuffs,
Start The Panic, dsnf shti the list can go on for ever

CD: Do you miss the NY scene?
JV: Yes I do, but not the bullshit of the city, I went back a few
weeks ago to play a show with Down Low, I missed playing with those guys but
everyone is complaining about the same old shit how NYC is going down the tubes.
CD: Where can your music / merch be found?
JV: Contact us here..........

CD: Thanks, anything else you want to add?
